installation error V1 ver 11

if you look at Case #04751535 — win 32 error on install, you’ll see that when you install V1 ver 11 not as the «run as» service account, but as a person, the install goes almost all the through, then fails with a win32 error. When I went to rerun the install as the service account, I can’t, because the permissions of the service account, as defined here «https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/d . ml?ver=110» does not give that account «delete» permissions» just create so I have to wait for a SQL admin to swing by and delete the database so I can redo the install. I’d like to report this as a bug. thanks

Delete permissions on the SQL database are not required for installing Veeam ONE regardless of whether it’s a clean installation or installation on top of an existing database.
I would recommend reporting all bugs/issues directly to our support team as this is the only way we can collect all the required information to fix them. Currently, it’s unclear from the support case what was the root cause and why that happened. You may escalate the case and ask engineers for diving deeper into the issue when required.

As you can see from this page, SQL database account permissions and VONE service account permissions are different. It’s up to you whether these permissions should be assigned to the same account or not. However, according to security best practices (SoD), these should be two different independent accounts.
Please, try launching the setup on behalf of the service account and then specify SQL database account when the setup will ask you for database credentials. If that does not work, the best bet would be to let our tech. support engineers check what’s going on there during a call.

Thank you for the update.
This is expected with windows authentication as it means that the service account you used to run the setup will be used for authenticating in the database. Since your service account did not have these permissions, it was impossible to do so. If you would like to use separate accounts, you should select SQL server authentication option and specify the credentials for SQL database-specific account for authenticating via SQL server authentication mode.
Anyway, glad to see it is resolved now.

Within Ford, I can’t do that, the way SQL is set up. I don’t know why it’s set up that way. I guess any database created after a box is built gets the same recovery mode as «model» database, which is FULL and the veeam sql account didn’t have enough permissions to change it either, to SIMPLE, in the installation.
In the end,it was an experiment to install V1 version 11 with an account with greatly reduced permissions. And I’m getting a crash course in SQL

Oops! Something went wrong.
Challenge
Cause
This issue is related to security software (antivirus/antimalware) or system hardening on the machine preventing access to or execution of files within the %localappdata%\Temp\ folder.
During the installation process, Veeam installers extract and execute files from the temporary folder.
The issue can be further identified by reviewing the installer log files found in C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup .
Solution
If this error occurs while attempting to install a Veeam product, you are advised to review the security software’s logs to identify what activity was detected and blocked, and then create appropriate exclusions to prevent installation issues. Alternatively, temporarily disable security software or server hardening until the installation is complete to prevent interactions that may cause the Veeam installer to fail.
Note: Some customers have advised Veeam Support that this issue persists after disabling their third-party security software and that they had to uninstall their security software temporarily.
If neither exclusion, disabling, nor uninstalling third-party security software or server hardening resolves this install issue, collect all logs from %ProgramData%\Veeam\Setup\ and create a Veeam Support case.

Oops! Something went wrong.
Challenge
Cause
This error occurs when the update installer is corrupt, files on the disk are corrupt, or the certificates for file validation are not installed or up-to-date.
The update installer checks both its own digital signature and those of the existing files to ensure their integrity before allowing the update to proceed.
All product files are signed using Global Sign certificates. Some Windows installations do not contain Global Sign’s root certificates authority as trusted root certificates or have non-current certificates. This issue is typically observed on servers with locked-down security settings, or servers with no internet access or latest updates installed.
Solution
- Please verify that the downloaded file is not corrupted by checking its hash against the one provided by Veeam. If the hash of the downloaded file does not match the one listed on the Veeam website, redownload the file.
The following PowerShell cmd may be used to get the hash of a file.

unable to install Veeam ONE v9 update 1
unable to install Veeam ONE v9 update 1
Post by marieelieg » Nov 29, 2016 8:21 am this post
I installed Veeam ONE v9 on my VM but when I try to install the update 1 by double clicking «VeeamONE_9.0.0.2088_Update1.exe» (as I usually do) the following error occurs:
«This Veeam ONE installation cannot be updated automatically. Please contact customer support for assistance with manual update.»
I stopped the «Veeam ONE Monitor Server» and «Veeam ONE Reporter Server» services and tried again. Same issue.
I updated Veeam ONE v9 many times before using the method above with no problems. This is the first time that this issue came up.
What could be the problem?
Thank you guys in advance.

I followed the steps in this KB article: https://www.veeam.com/kb2157.
Still same issue.

marieelieg, the KB you’re referring to is for Veeam B&R and it has nothing to do with Veeam ONE. Can you please tell me when did you download the update 1? As far as I remember, we have replaced the bits last week to address this behavior. Can you re-download the update and try again?
If this doesn’t help, then please contact our support team for assistance.

Oh. I downloaded the update 1 when it first came out so a few month ago. I will re-download and install from the new file.
