How to fix Fatal Error in The Isle’s Evrima update

Not the death you were expecting from The Isle.

Image via Afterthought LLC

The Isle’s rework is not playing nice. Players are experiencing a variety of bugs and problems. Some players struggle to get The Isle’s Evrima branch to download at all. Many issues can be attributed to the sheer amount of players attempting to get into or download the game at once. Other issues are more in-depth. Among stuck screens, infinite loading, and download issues, there’s a prevalent Fatal Error bug that plagues only some users upon attempting to start the game.

How to fix Fatal Error

The Fatal Error message pops up for some players when attempting to start the game. The game refuses to start, and the error window will appear with only “Fatal Error” in the middle. Players can only hit “okay” in response to close the box. It’s more than a frustrating annoyance for players that waited well over a year for the game’s rework.

While we’re not sure why, we have a couple solutions from the Discord that may help.

  • Restart your Steam
  • Clean install the game
  • Restart your PC
  • Clear Steam’s Download Cache
READ  Playstation 4 понижение прошивки

The first real attempt is to restart Steam and see if that helps. Simply exiting it will work. Make sure it’s closed fully instead of just minimizing it.

Doing a clean install may also help. To do this, clear game folders and then right-click the game in Steam. Go to properties and tell it to verify the integrity of the game files. This is one of the best solutions for players stuck with the Fatal Error issue.

Other suggestions include restarting the PC and clearing Steam’s download cache. These may also help with other problems experienced in the game.

If you are still experiencing problems, the developers are working on several hotfixes and patches that will hopefully remedy the various bugs and errors.

The isle ошибка fatal error

The window is labled «The UE4-TheIsle Game has crashed and will close» and then proceeds to say the title i stated above. I have played this game for a little over a week, it abruptly stopped working one day after crashing while i was in a server. With this same window popping up everytime. I have checked the integrity of the files multiple times, it usually says reaquired 1 file. It seems to do nothing, I have also wiped TheIsle files->Uninstalled->Then Reinstalled but to no avail. I have come to greatly love this game and am desperitly looking for a fix, since the previous mentions by developers and fellow steam players seem to not work. I have looked at what the developers have mentioned and fellow players, but yet again nothing seems to work. Please if you find of a way or know of a way let me know! Thank you for your time. The isle ошибка fatal error

since the small patch launched earlier today (and i successfully downloaded the patch) ive got this error everytime i want to start the game
i already restarted my pc, uninstalled the isle and reinstalled again, still doesnt work

THe UE4- TheIsle Game has crashed and will close
Fatal error: [File:Unknown] [Line:893]
Couldn’t load default compressionn settings asset with path ‘/Engine/Animation/DefaultAnimCurveCompressionSettings’

Right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > browse local files.

It should open up your Isle folder.

At the very top of the file path click «common»

It takes you back to a folder list of all your Steam games.

Keep that open, we’ll go back to that in a moment. Now right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > uninstall game. After it’s uninstalled you’ll need to go back to that list of game folders and delete «The Isle» folder. That way there is no trace of The Isle, so when you reinstall the game it doesn’t re-use any corrupted content that would normally remain after a normal uninstall.

That should fix it.

Right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > browse local files.

It should open up your Isle folder.

At the very top of the file path click «common»

Thank you, but I’ve tried that and the game still wont launch. I’ve also used an uninstaller program to clean all traces before reinstalling.

Also tried the steam support steps:
Update your Windows install
Update drivers for your computer
Verify your game cache files
Disable non-essential software
Check the game’s system requirements

I’m confused because the game worked fine earlier today, before the update.

Okay so what I’ve gathered thusfar is that it seems to be an issue related to your GPU or GPU Drivers depending on your system. All of the systems that are posted here seem to either have outdated drivers or very old graphics cards.

READ  The archive is corrupt error in zip

For users with AMD cards, you can download updated drivers here: https://www.amd.com/en/support — If you’re not going with their automatic detection, be sure to select the correct driver for your specific card.

For users with NVIDIA cards, you can download updated drivers here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/drivers/ — As a NVIDIA user myself, I’d suggest just downloading their Geforce Experience (which may be on your computer already) and using that to update your drivers.

hey i had the same problems with the newest EVRIMA update (0.7.111.34) and different kinds of error messages. Also a Win7 User.

some of the errors i encountered on the way to be able to play again:
1. api-ms-win-downlevel-kernel32-l2-1-0.dll not found on the pc
2. fatal error file: unknown line: 258
3. unknown software exception 0x40000015
4. dbgcore.MinidumpWriteDump» in DLL «dbghelp.dll» not found
(this one shows up like 5 times, but after confirming them the game actually runs)

specs:
OS: Win7 Ultimate x64
CPU: i7 4790k
RAM: 32 GB
GPU: GTX 1080
game is installed on a SSD

stuff i did that DID NOT help:
— verify game files via steam (said everything is ok)
— reinstall the game (was a fresh download before that anyway)
— check the official discord pinned troubleshooting stuff which just points out at this point «upgrade your OS» regarding one of the many errors. lol (if win10 wouldn’t be such a junk-OS i would have done that in the past. and win11 is not stable enough for a lot of stuff yet. so save your breath my little «ugrade-to-win10» / «win7-is-outdated»-trolls)

so. what did i do that actually helped (short version. long version in the below mentioned pdf)?
— one of the things mentioned regarding one of the many errors i had was move / download a few files (and later packed them into a zip file with a PDF attached with instructions and additional infos here (solo PDf is also available at the bottom):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pMlhXYeCE8fb9eEEFMlcNZFv13eAFV4C/view?usp=sharing

1. vcruntime140_1.dll > can be aquired on their official discord as pinned message > needs to be placed in the main game folder
2. api-ms-win-downlevel-kernel32-l2-1-0.dll > needs to be placed into «The Isle\TheIsle\Binaries\Win64» (where TheIsleClient-Win64-Shipping.exe is) and should be located on your system already under «C:\Windows\System32\CompatTel» (BUT beware, different versions are there)
3. d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll > same folder as 2. («The Isle\TheIsle\Binaries\Win64») and can be aquired here at the point where it links to github https://www.reddit.com/r/theisle/comments/p607cj/community_techsupport_thread_for_evrima/

EDIT: added the links to the solo PDF and ingame-Screenshot
